Concrete Homes
Why Concrete?
As part of our comitment to energy effeceincy, we have over 2 decades worth of experience in using concrete for our residential projects with a focus on precast, block and n-Situ concrete. Through this time, we've found that concrete offers a few distinct advantages:
- Thermal Mass Benefits: Concrete has a high thermal mass meaning that it can absorb, store and slowly release heat which helps stabilise indoor tempereture.
- Reduced Air Leakage: Concrete provides tight building envelopes with fewer gaps and cracks compared to tradaitional wood-framed homes. This decreases air leakage, which is a major source of energy loss in homes.
- Durability and Longevity:Concrete is highly durable and resistant to environmental factors like moisture, pests, and extreme weather. This reduces maintenance and repair needs over time, which indirectly saves energy associated with producing and transporting replacement materials.
- Energy-Efficient Building Techniques: Using precast concrete panels or modular systems can reduce waste and improve energy efficiency during construction.
